Maggie and I will be married 7 years on April 6, 2009. So we’re off for the weekend to celebrate. I’m not entirely sure where we’re going but I know it’s only around an hour away, and there’s no kids. That’s good enough for me. It’s a little early, but next Friday I have my [...]

Finally, tonight I was able to play my first game on my restored Bride of Pinbot. I acquired the game 2, maybe 3 years ago, and spent the last several months working on it heavily. It plays great, and it looks fantastic, considering the amount of damage it has undergone.
There’s still a few niggles; a [...]

I will admit, I almost didn’t go, due to a combination of things, only a small part of which was my lack of interest in the topics this month. Even when I don’t think I’ll get anything out of a topic, I still try to show up in order to support the speakers and the [...]

Recently, I sold both a Road Show and a Doctor Who pinball machine. That brought my collection down to 10 machines. Then I got a great deal on a Star Trek: The Next Generation. Then I stumbled upon a very nice White Water. Alas, thinning the herd didn’t work as well as planned.
On the up [...]

Maggie finally capitulated to my desire to buy a Honda Element!
I just got back from the dealership, and providing they can hook it all up, I should have it Thursday. 2008 blue LX model. No more deadlifting pinballs into the back of the Xterra, woot!
I’ll grant you that most people think it’s an ugly car. [...]

I spent a giant chunk of the weekend continuing the restoration of my Bride of Pinbot. I’m finally to the point where I start reassembling, rather than disassembling the machine. This is huge, as you start to feel all of the hard work finally pay off.
While the playfield will never be perfect, I’m really happy [...]

We use Munin to graph various things in our network at work, and when I woke up this morning, I popped open a graph only to see, instead of the ~1500 max on the graph I was expecting, ~2B. Naturally, the “real” graph data was far too compressed to be readable or usable.
Quick research found [...]

I’ve got this Bride of Pinbot pinball machine that I absolutely love, but it’s beat. Not as bad as some I’ve seen, but still pretty bad. Since the odds of getting a new playfield is near zero, I decided to go ahead and try my hand at making some overlays for the playfield I have. [...]

We’ve had the Eye-Fi here for several days now. I have to admit, they have user interface and initial setup for this device down cold. I was shocked at how polished and simple they made the entire process, but kudos to them for doing so.
After initial configuration, I had to “format” the card in my [...]
